I'm having some trouble with my algebra homework. I'd really appreciate it if someone worked this out and explained it :)

well when u have negative exponents, you can rewrite them as positive by putting them in the bottom of the fraction

example) x^-3 = 1/x³

here, u have (-4x²)^ -1 that means that everything in the parenthesis should be on bottom

= -1 ÷ 4x² = -1/4x²

if he had said, -4(x²)^-1, then only the x² would be on bottom,

= -4/x²

(-4x^2)^-1
= 1/(-4x^2)^1
= 1/(-4x^2)
= -1/(4x^2)

1 / (- 4 x²) = - 1 / 4x²

-1/(4x^2) is the best i can do

make it a good day
