Also,

Okay so first you have to distribute the 48 to the (-1/8). you will then get -6. then, you must distribute the -6 to the (-1/2). you will get 3. Its positive 3 because the two negatives from -6 and -1/2 cancel when multiplied.

on the second one it's pretty much the same but with different numbers of course. when you multiply 3/5 and -8/7 you will get -24/35. i think that's a division sign next to the last closing parenthesis so then you have to divide -24/35 by 72/1. you may do this or you can just make it -24/35 * 1/72 which i find easier. you will then get -24/2520, which reduces to -1/105

1)
48(-1/8)(-1/2)
= (-48/8)(-1/2)
= -6(-1/2)
= 6/2
= 3

2)
(3/5)(-8/7)/72
= (-24/35)/72
= (-24/35)(1/72) (divide -24 , 72 by 24)
= (-1/35)(1/3)
= -1/105

An equation requires an = sign.
These are therefore NOT equations.
They are Expressions that have to be simplified.

48 x 1/8 x 1/2 = 48/16 = 3

- 24 / (35 x 72) = - 1 / 105

These are not equations. First one = 3
2nd one = -1/105
