legal liabilities for the auditor

the results of risk assessment in the planning stage usually indicate that the auditor has been facing different degrees of exposure to legal liabilities, what is the implication of legal liabilities for the auditor? how the auditor can do to deal with high and low exposures to legal liabilities?

The so called 'risk assessment' only indicate the area that you should concentrate your efforts and it has no correlation to the amount of claim or legal liabilities. If you have committed negligence, then you pay out of professional indemnity. If you have an obvious negligence, you will probably be facing not only a claim but also disciplinary action from the HKICPA. In an assurance engagement, you can only perform or under perform and there is no guarantee that even you have undergone risk assessment, you will be risk-free.
