其實, 一個國家/ 地方/ 任何東西作擬人化的方式去表達, 都可以用 pronoun (her)來形容。

以下讓我引用一個名家手筆去解釋一下:

"I love America more than any other country in this world, and exactly for this reason, I insist on the right to criticise her perpetually." (James A. Baldwin)

可見作者愛國心切, 越是愛國, 越是批評她 (可能希望她能改善和進步)。

所以, 類似James A. Baldwin 般熱愛一個國家的人 (愛國就如愛一個人一樣), 當要表達這種情懷時, 就會用到 pronoun (her)。尤其在小說作品特別容易見到這手法。

其實正統黎講, Hong Kong 係當係死物用"its"
不過有不少報紙文章或其他散文都會用"her"
好似我地中文有時會refer "中國" 為 "她"

如果用作公開考試, "its" 比較穩妥
