The final selling price is
$850 x (1+35%)
= $850 x 1.35
= $1147.5

Strategy 1: 10% discount was given, the marked-up price is
$1147.5 / (1-10%)
= $1147.5 / 0.9
= $1275

the marked price was increased by
(1275- 1147.5)/1147.5 x 100% = 11.11% (corr to 2 decimal place)

Strategy 2: 20% discount was given, the marked-up price is
$1147.5 / (1-20%)
= $1147.5 / 0.8
= $ 1434.375

the marked price was increased by
(1434.375 - 1147.5)/1147.5 x 100% = 25%
