What makes humans better than animals?

We humans always talk of ourselves as the most "intelligent" and civilized out of all beings. We're too high on that sh*t that we can't see the truth and the fact that we are the least intelligent , and the most cruel and savage creatures to ever roam the planet. I have always said that and always will. We're the only ones to kill for the sake of killing or out of greed. We wage needless horrifying wars against each other and commit acts of barbarism that NO other species "beasts" would do in a billion years. We steal, lie, kill, hit, hate, abuse, discriminate and enslave others because of the color of their skin... sell poison to others so we can profit...well, the list never ends, then we call animals "beasts" !
I know some smart one -of course they're not smart if they say it- will say that there is good in humanity and that it's wrong to paint all of humanity with one brush blah blah blah... Yeah there's good in humanity but over all evil RULES and not good. Look as far back as you can at the history of this evil wicked race -humans- and you'll see nothing but killing and evil. I think evil outweighs good and has a far more lasting effect. How can you justify the killing of about 100 million people (in wars) since the turn of this century alone ??? If after all this you still want to call the human race good then I don't know what evil is.
However, taking the life of an SOB criminal or murderer isn't savage or uncivilized. On the contrary, leaving this criminal element roam the streets free unpunished is what would make us uncivilized. So, it is the exception in this case that I do believe in killing -the death penalty. So I have to disagree with the asker.

I quite agree with you - I think within their own communities that they have found various ways of socializing.

We are hampered by consciousness and that is pretty big limitation for us. It is in some way an explanation for why we fail but yes I agree - the animals get more brownie points.

We are the most intellegent beings. Can animals build rocketships and go into outer space? No. By the way, like Louise C said, other intellegent beings make war and tourture other members of it's kind. Exept that we had a choice to do this or not but for some reason we did. Nature cannot control us and the other intellegent beings so we can do whatever we want. Other animals who are not sea mammals and primates are controlled under the spell of nature. We have a choice but people just chose to be the most violent being on the earth.

They are not civilized beings. They rely on their insticts and their instincts are not telling them to make nuclear bombs and to make wars. We have the capacity to act beyond those instincts.Some scientists think that humans make war because they have complex thinking.Just look at chimps, an animal that shares 98% of our DNA - they often make wars and beat unwanted chimps with sticks and stones to death. Another animal with complex intelligence is the dolphin. They gang rape female and even male dolphins and often kill porpoises and baby dolphins for fun...and they are fully aware at what they are doing. Orcas are seen to cause painful death to seals before they eat them and to rip out the tongues of baby blue whales. Should I continiue? We do it because we are intelligent. Period.

Humans are selfish.

Animals are WAY better than humans. They give unconditional love and accept you completely as you are. Humans only love you to a certain degree. Humans are critical and ignorant and judge too much when they don't even have the facts. And to the jerk on this post who calls him or herself "Arrr" (see post above), you don't know anything. Animals have rescued many humans. I know a guy who's dog dragged him out of his burning apartment while he was unconscious. Many humans don't even care when you need help. They keep walking right by you. And people who don't care about animals are so cold and ignorant. Those who love animals are usually better human beings with real hearts and souls. And to those who abuse animals, you're all sick evil monsters and there is a special place in hell that awaits you. Wait and see.

Then you haven t checked at all. Animals eat their own young. Animals let their siblings starve. Animals wound their own and leave them to die. You know the difference between us and them? We actually feel bad about doing those things. Our sense of morality is more developed then theirs.

Freedom of WILL and to choose between Doing Good and Doing Bad. Animal Instincts there is good and there is bad but We have the choice to overcome and Rise to Heights of Greater Kingdoms. Animals are of Our Lower Kingdoms but the Animals are above the Vegetable Kingdoms. Hope this Helps !
