How do you change the setting so that facebook doesnt send you e-mails when a friend adds you?

after you log in go to account on the top right side of the page and then go to notifications which is in the thing that says setting network and etc. and then check the things you want to be contacted by and un check the ones you don't want to be contacted by

Settings> Notifications > uncheck from sending mail..

go to ACCOUNT and in NOTIFICATION,
u can change all kind of setting by just clicking it OFF

Yeah, After you sign in click your account tab. Its on the upper right hand side of the page. Then click notifications. Youc an check and uncheck what you want to get emails about.
