Two buckets of the same capacity are filled with flour and sugar. The ratio of flour
to sugar in the two buckets are 3 : 1 and 5 : 1 respectively. A baker pours the flour and sugar in the two buckets into one large container. Find the ratio of flour to sugar in the large container.

Let the volume of flour and sugar of the first bucket be 3x and x , the volume of flour and sugar of the second bucket be 5y and y
and we know that 3x+x=5y+y--->x=3y/2
the total volume of flour =3x+5y=19y/2
the total volume of sugar =x+y=5y/2
the ratio of flour to sugar=19y/2:5y/2=19:5
