1. get the LCD of the whole thing (in this case it's 2y)
[ 1/2 (7/y) = 2 - 1/y ] 2y
to get: y (2)(7) = 2y(2) - 2 -----> 14y = 4y - 2
2. transfer y to one side...
14y = 4y - 2 -----> 10y = -2
3. divide by 10 to isolate the y...
10y = -2

to get the final answer which is...
y = -2/10 or (- 1/5) .
