= 8080 - 101
= 7979

or

79(101)
= 79(100) + 79(1)
= 7900 + 79
= 7979

79(100+1)=7900+79=7979

79 (100 + 1) = 7900 + 79 = 7979

Distributive property is when you distribute your number on the outside to the inside. Basically, distribute a(x+y) will get you ax + ay

So I don't know if that's a typo, but 79(101) just means for you to multiply 79*101. :)
