Is it possible to simplify this question?

7/(r²-49) - r/(r²-49)

I used the difference of squares and got 7/(r 7)(r-7) - r/(r 7)(r-7).
Now I don't know if I could do something further to simplify it even more. Could anyone offer some help? THANKS!

7-r/(r + 7)(r -7) = -(r-7)/(r-7)(r +7) = -1/(r+7)
2008-08-02 6:51 am
= 7/(r² - 49) - r/(r² - 49)
= (7 - r)/([r + 7][r - 7])
= (r - 7)/([r + 7][r - 7])
= 1/(r + 7)

Answer: 1/(r + 7)

including fractions while the two denominators is a similar is common: only upload the numerators. Numerator = section on suited. a/ok + b/ok = (a+b) / ok on your difficulty: 3/20 + 6/20 = (3+6) / 20 To simplify, you look for a common factor between the numerator of the respond and its denominator (the backside section). to illustrate, in case you have a fraction like 60/420, you are able to locate that 10 is a common factor (they the two end with a 0); to simplify, you will possibly divide the two by potential of 10 60/420 = 6/40 two Now, you will possibly observe that they share 2 as a common factor (they are the two even), so which you divide by potential of two 6/40 two = 3/21 Now, we see that 3 is a common factor 3/31 = one million/7 it incredibly is the simplified version. those variety of fractions have a similar fee; the only with the smallest numbers is the main common version: 60/420 = 6/40 two = 3/21 = one million/7

7/(r^2 - 49) - r/(r^2 - 49)
= (7 - r)/(r^2 - 49)
= -(-7 + r)/(r + 7)(r - 7)
= -(r - 7)/(r + 7)(r - 7) (cancel out r - 7)
= -1/(r + 7)

7/(r² - 49) - r/(r² - 49) = (7 - r)/(r² - 49) = (7 - r)/[(r + 7) (r - 7)]

(r+7) (r-7)
= r ( r-7) + 7 ( r - 7)
= r² - 7r + 7r - 49
= r² - 49

7 - r
-------------
r² - 49

7 - r
-----------------
(r - 7)(r + 7)

- (r - 7)
---------------------
(r - 7)(r + 7)

- 1
--------------
(r + 7)

7/ (r-7)(r+7)-r / (r-7)(r+7)

7-r / r-7 r+7

answer is 1 / r+7

They are fractions with like denominators. What can you do to simplify when you have an addition or subtraction of fractions with like denominators?

Then you can use your factoring to simplify it further once you combine them.
