I want to buy a new camera. And I want one that would fit my needs. And i also want one that isn't super expensive. I take a lot of photos of family and friends, and I go to a lot of concerts.

And as far as the concert part is concerned- I go to small venues in seattle which allows photos- and there is low lighting.

A good camera would be one that performs well at high iso's, has fast focusing, and a big imaging sensor. Pixel count is the big fad these days, but in practice, these does little or virtually nothing the final image quality. more megapixels on a smaller sensor= artifacts, color bleeding, more noise, etc. You can consider a slr camera, which provides superior performance compared to a compact- or if you prefer not lugging around a heavy camera+lens....you may consider cameras such as the sony H9, Canon G7, among others. I heard Panasonic makes pretty good compacts too.

The all time winner bargain compact digital camera is the Canon 7.1 megapixel PowerShot SD1000 [not the IS] 7.1 with an added 2- gig memory card which when set in the manual mode for "Vivid" colors and videos at 30 fps in 320 dpi format provides killer images and videos under low-light concert conditions. It currently sells for $160 at Sears:

Good luck!

Not the camera per se re: the concert photos--it's the lens. You'd need on that is fast (with a larger aperture), because you would not want to use flash, and unfortunately, it's expensive.

The D90 is the first digital SLR in the middle class which has a movie function (D-Movie), you can save the creative short films in HD resolution in the Motion JPEG format. @@@

I have a Casio Exilim and it's pretty awesome. The only downside is that the battery life isn't very good.

if you have the money then go with a Nikon but if not try Cannon's PowerShot SD750. Well priced too.
