volume
= 3 * [5*5 - 2*2]
= 3 * 21
= 63 cube feet.

answer = 63 ft^3

what you have to do is vind the volume of the thing as a whole and then subtract the volume of the hole so that would be...

5 x 5 x 3 = 75 ft cubed - volume of the entire block

then you find the volume of the hole.

2 x 2 x 3 = 12 - volume taken out of the whole block by a hole

then you subtract the hole from the whole thing.

75 - 12 = 63 ft cubed - volume of solid.

and there you go. the answer is 63 ft cubed.

you take the volume of the big cube minus the volume of the little one

l x w x h lenght x witdh x hieght

5 x 5 x 3=75
2 x 2 x 3=12
75 - 12= 63
63 cubic feet

Volume of the outer box = 5 x 5 x 3 =75 cubic feet
Volume of the inner box = 2 x 2 x 2 = 8 cubic feet

First you should find the volume of the larger figure. Since the formula is just length times width times height, you get 5x5x3. The volume is then 75.

Then you find the volume of the inner space that is left out. The dimensions are 2,2, and 3. Multiply the three together and get 12.

After you do that, you simply subtract the larger volume from the space missing (75-12) resulting in 63 feet.

V = (5 x 5 x 3) - (2 x 2 x 3) ft³
V = 75 - 12 ft³
V = 63 ft³

5 x 5 x 3 - 2 x 2 x 3
= 25 x 3 - 4 x 3
= 75 - 12
= 63 cubic feet

This might help.
^2 this means squared. If your'e calculating area, you will
multiply length*width .Notice the two.
^3 This means cubed. If your'e calculating volume , you use this formula: length*width*height Notice the three .
volume is always expressed as a cubic mesurement.
Therefore, you would multiply 5*3*2=30.
You must express it in cu. ft. or they will consider it wrong.
The correct answer is 30 cu. ft.
Keep on studying.

That's easy. First make believe that there is no hole in the solid. Then calculated the volume of the solid by l x w x h. Write down your number.

Now imagine the hole is really a solid and calculate the volume of that solid the same way as above. Write down that number.

Now subtract the second number from the first and you have the volume of a solid with a hole in it.
