-9/20+7/10 then cross multiply to get

(-9*10+7*20)/20*10 = (-90+140)/200 = 50/200 = 1/4 = 0.250

-9/20 + 7/10
took LCM, the LCM will be 20 so
-9/20 + 14/20
= 5/20
= 1/4

14 / 20 - 9 / 20 = 5 / 20 = 1/ 4

-9/20 + 7/10
= -9/20 + (2/2)(7/10)
= -9/20 + 14/20
= 14/20 - 9/20
= 5/20
= 1/4

In order to add them you must first get a common denominator. In this case it's 20. So in order for the 7/10 to have a denominator of 20, multiply both top and bottom by 2 and you get:

14/20

-9/20 alread has 20 as it's denominator so just leave it.

So then you have:

-9/20 + 14/20= 5/20 but this can be reduced by dividing both top and bottom by 5. And your final answer will be:

1/4

Get them to have common denominators

7/10 times 2 = 14/20

SO

-9 + 14 = 5

SO

5/20 needs to be simplified

20 and 5 are both divisable by 5

SO

5/20 = 1/4

SO

1/4 is the answer!
