A car starts from rest with a constant acceleration of 2ms^2 which ceases after a certain time. It then mocves at a constant speed of 8ms^1 for the next 16seconds after which it is uniformly retarded and brought to rest. If the complete motion takes 24 seconds

A. determine the retardation
B. plot the velocity-time graph
C. the total distance traveeled.

A. determine the retardation
For the first part , u=0 , a =2 ,v=8
v=u+at
8=2t
t=4
which means the process of retardation=24-16-4=4s
For the retardation part ,
u=8 ,v=0,t=4
v=u+at
0=8+4u
u=-2
the retardation is 2 ms^-2
B. plot the velocity-time graph

C. the total distance travelled.
=the area of v-t graph
=[(20-4)+24]*8/2
=160m
