1.dept = department – a department is a part of an organization such as the government or a company. For example :
in the government we have Police Department
in a company we may have an Account Department.
2.w/o = without – means do not have / do not do something. For example :
I am a child without mother
I finish my homework without help from anyone
3.TST = Tsimshatsui – this is the name of a district in Kowloon. You can find the Star Ferry pier (Tsimshatsui side) there.
4.b4 = before – a preposition meaning earlier than. Example
I wake up before my mother
Mother cooks the dinner before I come home
5.> = bigger than / more than(used mostly in Mathematics and Science). Example :
I hope my test marks will be > 90.
I think John weights > 200 pounds
6.< = smaller than / less than. Example :
I think Mary’s age is < 17.
This bag of rice is < the one that we bought yesterday.
7.cont'd = continued (usually means “to be continued”). Example :
This page is not enough for me to write my composition, I need another piece of paper to write, so in the bottom of this page I will put down cont’d. so people knows there will be more to come in another piece of paper.
