i used to live in Lai King and went to school in Ma On Shan.
i will suggest you to take 40x and take 46x in shing moon tunnel. this will approximately take you 50 mins.
85m to wong tai sin MTR station and take the MTR to Lai King, it will take almost the same as you take 40x.
an hour is needed for this route since it's a long trip, except if you take a taxi~:)
but i will say 40X route is better.

４６X巴士在荔景悅麗苑下車，你可以考慮在馬鞍山坐４３ｘ或４０ｘ到城門隧道口轉車
