The famous phrase “If they have no bread, then let them eat cake” was spoken by Marie Antoinette, Queen of Louis Sixteen of France before The French Revolution (1789–1799).

There are still historians claiming that Marie Antoinette did not say this phrase. It was said that the people of France did not like the Queen because of her extravagant life style.

It's the Queen of France, Marie Antoinette, who is supposed to have said
"let them eat cake" when she was told that the French populace had no bread
to eat. But many historians and biograhpers have found no evidence that she
actually did say this infamous phrase.

P.S. Her original name was Maria Antonia before she married King Louis XVI,
the then crown prince of France.
