5x^2 - 24x - 36
5x^2 - 30x + 6x - 36
5x(x - 6) + 6(x - 6)
(5x + 6((x - 6)

(5x-------)(x---------)
(5x------6)(x-------6)
(5x + 6)(x - 6)

5x^2 - 24 x -36 Multiply 5 x -36 = -180

The factors of -180 are -30 and + 6 which on adding
gives -24

Split the middle term into -30 x and +6x

5 x^2 -30x +6x -36

5x ( x - 6) + 6 ( x - 6 ) gives the factors as

(5x + 6) ( x - 6) and this is the answer

5x^2 - 24x - 36 = (x - 6)(?)
(?) = (5x^2 - 24x - 36)/(x - 6)
(?) = (5x + 6)(x - 6)/(x - 6) (cancel out x - 6)
(?) = 5x + 6

∴ 5x^2 - 24x - 36 = (5x + 6)(x - 6)

(x-6)(5x+6)

because x and 5x multiplied makes 5x^2, and 6 times -6 = -36. When you use the distributive property, you will end up with
5x^2+6x+-30x+-36

6x+-30x= -24 x, thats where -24x comes from

first does it facotr
lets use the discriminant to find out b^2-4*a*c = a square number if it factors

24^2 - 4 *5*-36 = 576 + 720 = 1296 which is a square number
so yes

(5x + 6)(x - 6)
