first, I think you copied the wrong unit, I think it should be -600 m/s^2
the 'g' in 60g (as an acceleration figure) is not gram, but the earth's gravitational acceleration. g is normally taken as 9.81m/s^2, for simply approximately, sometimes as 10 m/s^2.
I guess you are dealing with vertical motion and the negative accleration is a matter of sign convention, e.g. if positive is downloads, your acceleration is upward, vice versa.
For the magnitude, 60g = 60 x 10m/s^2 = 600m/s^2
