這半句話講明了取自於學記，要翻譯前，先要釋義。

我讀學記，讀過不同注釋。我接受的說法，和版主不同。在這兒，［喻］並非［比喻］，而是［告訴，讓人明白］的意思。因此，和［教］擺在一起，就是［教導］，和今天的［教育］音同但義近而不全同。

若以［比喻］來解，就該在教字之後加逗號，寫成［教，喻也］。但用此解，則和後文搭起來，對我來說其實不能自圓其說。所以我不接受這一說法。

因此，［所以說呀，好老師的教導呀，要能...(後文則另有道而弗牽,強而弗抑,開而弗達。）］

君子的意思很多，在這而則指［好老師］。

在這樣的前提下，這半句話的翻譯，我會這麼安排：

但是這種翻譯，在沒有前後文的狀態下，沒有任何意義。說無厘頭都不為過。

最好是能翻譯原文全句，才能讓譯文有生氣。

君子之教喻也，道而弗牽，強而弗抑，開而弗達。

道而弗牽：引導，但是不是鉅細靡遺的逐步引領。
強而弗抑：勉勵，嘉獎，鼓勵學生，而不是用斥責，要求等強硬方式。
開而弗達：提示，讓學生能自己思考，而不是把知識全都說明了，一股腦
的倒給學生。學生連一些自己的功夫都不用。

educationist　指的事對［教育］有研究的專家。［教育家］，要對應 educationist 恐怕有一半會失真。［教育專家］，可能是更好的對應。
