What if I want to buy an Iphone 2 as a gift for my dad? And I dont know when he will activate (he's busy). Would I able to do that too?

Both previous answers are incorrect. To purchase the 3G iPhone, you have to activate it in the store and sign a 2 year contract before you can leave with it. The 1st gen iPhone was activated at home through iTunes. This new version is not. It HAS to be activated in the store. Apple and AT&T do not want this phone unlocked and "jailbroken" and are taking steps to ensure it cannot be. Sorry...you will not find a 3G iPhone on eBay.

nope. u could just get the phone and activate it a t your house and then u could activate it or unlock it whatever u wish for..but apple canotforce u to activate it at their store it has to be done by urself..

well first of all you need to cancel your t-moble membership, then go to the nearest apple store and buy it i dont think you have to sighn a contract
