A table costs $524 and its been discounted by 30%
=

$524 x 0.30 = 157.2$

so

$524 - $157.2 = $366.80

Discounted price = $366.80

Yes, you are correct. You could also simply multiply $524 and .7, since the new discounted price is 70% of the original. This would simply eliminate the subtraction step.

Yes and no. Depends if $524 is the original price or the discount price.

100%<------------>$524
10%<------------->$52.40
70%<------------->$366.80 as you suggest.

$524 x (1 - 30%)
= $524 x 70%
= $524 x 70/100
= $524 x 7/10
= $3668/10
= $366.8

Your answer is correct.
