The Quadratic Equation!

x equals minus b plus or minus the square root of b squared minus 4ac ALL over 2a.

Or the math:

X= -b +/- (square root) of b^2 - 4ac // 2a

SO what is A, B, C?
Define your variables like so.
A= the constant of the x^2
B= the constant of the x
C=the constant

A=4
B=16
C=15

x= -16 +/- square root of 16^2- (4*4*15)// 2(4)
x= -16 +/- root 256- 240 //8
x= -16 +/- root 16 //8
x= -16 +/- 4 //8

x= -3/2 or x= -5/2

4x^2 + 16x + 15 = 0
-16 +/- √256-4(4)(15)/2(4)
-16 +/- √16/8
-16 + 4 / 8 or -16 - 4 / 8
Answers: -12/8 and -20/8; (simplified): -3/2 and -5/2

4x^2 + 16x + 15 = 0

Here a= 4 ; b =16 ; c =15

substitute this values in the formula,

[ -16 ± √( 256 - 4 * 4 * 15) ] / 2 * 4 ;

i.e [ -16 ± √( 16) ] / 8 ;

[ -16 ± 4 ] / 8 ;

Now x = ( -16 + 4 ) / 8 or x= ( -16 - 4) / 8 ;

x= -3 / 4 or x= -5 / 2

0=4x^2 + 16x + 15

a = 4, b = 16, c = 15

x = (-16 +/- sqrt(16^2 - 4(4)(15)))/2(4)

x = (-16 +/- sqrt(256 - 240))/8

x = -2 +/- (sqrt(16))/8

x = -2 +/- 4/8

x = -2 +/- 1/2
