Registration of Chinese medicine pharmacists in Hong Kong is also a serious problem too. There is not registration system for the pharmacists. People without any license, degree or diploma can work in Chinese herbal medicine stores. We can’t make sure if they have learnt Chinese medicine or not. The duties of pharmacists are to check the prescriptions and give some suggestions to patients. If they haven’t study Chinese medicine, it is so (dangerous) for patients to follow their advices about illness. On the other hand, they may not discover any mistake in the prescription at once and just follow the prescription. Pharmacists with certificates can (protect the health of patients). We don’t need to worry that they will do something wrong on their works.

How about Chinese medicine practitioners? More than 200 graduates of TCM have completed their course every year. Nevertheless, there are few public Chinese clinics and relative jobs. More of them work in Chinese medicine shops, research institute of university or non-relative jobs. Less of them can become a practitioner as more patients always want the practitioner who is experienced. They don’t believe graduates can treat them. Therefore, lack of occupation is the serious problem. There are enough talents in TCM but no one accept them. At the same time, many practitioners come from midland. The competition is so hard. It is so difficult for graduates to find a job.

Disqualification of Chinese medical pharmacists is aserious problem in Hong Kong . Since there is not a registration system for thepharmacists, even people without any license, degree or diploma can work inChinese herbal medicine stores. We can't make sure that whether they are qualified. The duties of pharmacists are to check theprescription and give some suggestions to patients. If they haven'tstudied Chinese medicine, it is so risky for patients to followtheir advice. On the other hand, they may not be able to find outany mistake in the prescription at once and simply follow theprescription. Pharmacists with certificates can actually guarantee to the patients that they will receive suitable and qualified treatment, protecting them from being harmed.

The lack of occupation is theanother problem for Chinese medical pharmacists in Hong Kong.Regardless of unqualified Chinese medical practitioners, howabout those certificated graduates? More than 200 people graduate fromTCM every year. Nevertheless, there are fewpublic Chinese clinics and related jobs. Most of them work in Chinesemedical pharmacy, research institutes of universities or unrelated jobs. Only a few of them left that can become a practitioner, whom patients always prefer as a practitioner sounds more experienced. They don't think graduates who don't have their own clinics can treattheir diseases or illness well. There areenough talents from TCM but no one accepts them, just because they are unable to have their own business. At the same time, more and morepractitioners are coming from mainland. The keen competition has left graduates uneasy to secure an adequate job with their profession.

請盡量避免用short form,有些連接詞錯誤運用,如 on the other hand,之前必須有 on the one hand出現,還有一些 wrong spelling, 如midland->mainland,但出現最多是錯別字/詞,如works多用作作品或一件件工作,non-relative jobs的relative是親戚的關係,獨立用是解相對的(如相對濕度relative humidity),無相關的工作應用not related jobs. 激烈的競爭是keen competition(你多看英文報紙你必定會見到的)。最後,registration 本身是沒有問題而是那些『老藥公』(即藥材舖的執藥人員)的專業資格問題。

The qualification of Chinese medicine pharmacists in Hong Kong is also a serious problem, too. There is no registration system for those pharmacists. People without any license, degree nor diploma can work in Chinese medicine stores. We cannot be sure if they have learned Chinese medicine or not. The duties of pharmacists are to sort out the prescribed herbs or medicine, double check the prescriptions and provide suggestions to patients. If they have not studied Chinese medicine, it is irrational for patients to follow their advices. Moreover, they may not have enough knowledge to spot any mistake in the prescription. Pharmacists with certificates may minimize their mistakes and would provide more protection on our health.

How about Chinese medicine practitioners? More than 200 students graduate from the Traditional Chinese Medicine Schools every year but there are only a few public Chinese clinics providing adequate jobs for them. Most of them work in Chinese medicine shops, research institute of universities or other non-related jobs. Only a handful of them can become practitioners as most patients always want to consult those experienced practitioners instead because they lack confidence in fresh graduates. Therefore, job insufficiency is one of the serious problem facing those Chinese Medicine practitioners.

Last but not the least, there is keen competition coming from mainland Chinese Medicine practitioners. That would even worsen the job insufficiency problem in Hong Kong, too.
