If you want to use idioms, try:

"Not the most exciting day I've had"
"It's a little tedious."
"Today is just going so slowly"
"Time has no meaning anymore"
"I could think of more exciting things to be doing than this"

In your sentence, bored is self-describing, as a feeling. Boring, when used as a passive adjective, described something else. To describe yourself as boring, does not mean that you are bored, it means that you do things that could be interpreted as not exciting. It's a way others view you.

In that case, you should simply say 'The day is boring' or 'I had a boring day'. Without mentioning the word 'day', how can you say it was boring?
By the way, are you a drill operator?
