The wireless card on your laptop might only be capable of WEP security (kinda old) while your home network might be set to WPA (not as old) or WPA2 (very current, highest security).

One thing you can do it to download Windows SP3 (run Windows updates and look for Service Pack 3) because it provides for a universal wiress driver that will upgrade your laptop to the WPA2 level and then you should be able to connect.

Good luck.

For a connection to lag you have a foul connection to the host or the blended connection of all gamers is undesirable. I even have had this difficulty besides so I had hosted a game on Gears of conflict and invited honestly everyone that exchange into interior the final game. the thank you to verify if it exchange into your connection is that if human beings go through greater suitable lag on your game. If no longer that is basically peoples connections which you're fidgeting with.

Find out from whoever set the network up what the network key is. Then open Windows wireless network window and click on the family network, click connect and type the network key in.

I believe that is "Vistaspeak" for you do not have the correct network key. Get the person who set up the network to give you the network key

For windows xp:
Click start, go to control panel, then chose network connections. Right click on wireless network connection and go to view available wireless networks. On the left click on change the order of preferred networks. In here choose your network and remove it.

For vista
Go to control panel and choose network and internet the go to network and sharing center. On the left click on manage wireless connections and remove your network from this list

It means that your wireless network requires a password to connect and you don't have it.

it sounds like you need to put in a wep key(it's a password for the network device)ask the person who set it up for the key and help to get it connected.
