I decided to crate train my puppy instead of Paper Training her. Everything I read suggested this as a much preferred way to housebreak your puppy. It is also safer for them when you are not around. It prevents them from eating or chewing on something that they shouldn't. It makes for a much healthier relationship for both you and the dog.

Why are you paper training? Use a cage and then you can make it work. Cage training teaches the dog that pottying inside the house is not good practice. Cages also keep the puppy safe while you are not at home. It works. Get a book about this and you will find it is a good method.

I have 4 French Bulldogs... My male was perfectly house-broken by the time he was 13 weeks of age, and my females were house-broken by the time they were 16 weeks of age... When they were young, they'd sleep in the bed, and I'd wake up once in the middle of the night to let them relieve themselves, but they sleep through the night now... My dogs could pretty much hold themselves for up to 5 hours during the day, so I never crated them and gave them the run of the entire downstairs living / dining / kitchen area...

House-breaking takes consistency and requires not sending mixed messages to the dogs, and not setting them up for failure... Their breeder started to potty-train the puppies on the pads from the moment they started to get up and walk... By the time they arrived at my home, they had all their vaccines and had started leash-training and pottying outdoors... Taking pups out frequently (like every two hours) or right after they've eaten food or drunk water, and telling the dogs to go potty, and then praising them and telling them what a good dog they are, reinforces the proper behavior...

The wee-wee pads were permanently removed as soon as the dogs started walking outdoors... By using pads or newspapers indoors, and taking the dog outdoors, you only send mixed messages that it's okay to pee inside, and outside you can do whatever you want and have fun... I prefer to teach my dogs to only go outside, hence they never defecate indoors...

i won't paper train a dog.

is there any reason you can't take your dog outside? getting a crate and crate training your dog to potty outside is what's going to be the most effective.

you need to be taking your frenchie on at least 2 walks a day to meet the excercise requirement for this dog. so there shouldn't be a reason for it not to be able to go out and potty also.

It took me a few days to paper train a litter of cocker spaniel puppies.

it is sick to paper train your dog!! take it out on a leash and let the poor thing go on some dirt, grass!! any thing but paper , puppy pads! buy a create and put the dog in their, it is the beast way of house trainer a dog!!! of any age!good luck!

There are a lot of factors involved - the age of the dog, how consistant you are and how the pup was socialised and housed before you got it.

it depends on how good you are on training your dog. it took me no more then a week and a half to train my two month old pit to use the restroom outside.
