(3y/10)-2 = (y/5) +3
- 3y/10= (y/5) +5
- 3y= 2y +50
y=50
3y/10 - 2 = y/5 + 3
3y/10 - y/5 = 2 + 3
10(3y/10 - y/5) = 10(5)
3y - 2y = 50
y = 50
3y/10-2=y/5+3
3y/10-y/5=3+2
3y/10-y/5=5
3y-2y/10=5 (The LCM of 10 and 5 comes as 10 in d denominator)
y/10=5
y=50
We start with:
(3y / 10) - 2 = (y / 5) + 3
What we want to do is get rid of those denominators; to do so, we multiply through by 10, the lowest common multiple of 5 and 10 (the denominators):
3y - 20 = 2y + 30
Next, we combine like terms:
y = 50
This is the solution.
