I(自己名字), am speaking on behalf of the student Union. As you can see on TV months ago, an earthquake had seriously damaged Sichuan. It caused a lot of deaths and injuries. Not many people in Sichuan were lucky enough to be alive. Undoubtedly, it is very sad to see such a condition. When we compare our life with theirs, we will feel that we are all well blessed!! And we should learn to cherish everything we have now.

Now back to the victims' condition. Although the rescue work has come to an end, the reconstruction work has just started. Nearly all the buildings in the affected cities collapsed except for a few ones, including some school campuses. These buildings were so safe because they were structurally up-to-standard with statutory requirement.

Up to this moment, only some temporary housing was provided for the quake victims. In order to help them rebuild their homes, a lot of money is still needed. Many Chinese people from all over the world donated generously to help the victims. Would you please also make your own donation to help them? You can also ask your friends and relatives to donate. Our target is to raise HK$100,000 to reconstruct a collapsed primary school in Sichuan. By the way, several donation boxes are now placed at the back of this assembly hall and you are welcome to lend your helping hand. Or you can directly donate to the General Office any time within this week during office hour. Let us wish the victims the best for their future!! Hope that they can resume to their normal life as soon as possible!!
