1, Unless your VAIO notebook is really really old, otherwise, most if not all laptop/notebook computer built nowadays will be compatible with the security devices invented and licenced by Kensington.
2, Kensington Lock防盜鎖插孔 is for the user to connect a lock with the cable that can be tied to something more difficult to be moved, deterring thieves from stealing your computer. The 防盜鎖插孔, called a Kensington Lock or K-Slot, is integrated to the laptop's chassis. Once the lock is inserted, the mechanism is hooked with the computer chassis, so the thief can not take away your laptop and break the lock without damaging the computer.
3, Just like any theft deterrence device, nothing is 100% from being stolen. However, most thieves will try to go for the easy target and avoid the difficult one, so, yes, using the Kensington Lock is better than not using it. Most large consulting company enforce their employees to lock down their computer with the Kensington Lock cable when they are working at the clients' sites.
