(change to a decimal to divide)

(divide by 1.5)

x < 6

Brackets somewhere perhaps ?????
(1/2) x - 3 < 6 - x
x - 6 < 12 - 2x
3x < 18
x < 6

I really wish people would use parentheses.

I'm guessing this is what you're asking:

(1/2)x - 3 < 6 - x

==> (3/2)x - 3 < 6
==> x < (2/3)*9
==> x < 6
