The newest Need For Speed is Need For Speed ProStreet, was release in 2007, while it has changed from illegal street racing like the previous titles, into real racing, so no more free roaming. However this year (2008), they decided to go back and make the upcoming one just like the old series, having free roaming in the city and illegal street racing.

Almost every year on November 1st, Need For Speed will release a new game for the series, Need For Speed. The CEO of Need For Speed had confirmed that the next title of Need For Speed will be released in late 2008 and will be named Need For Speed Undercover.
