What languages do I need to learn inorder to build a web site?

Only HTML is necessary for developing a web page.(**Not necesasry to learn)

Also you can give some designs from HTML itself. If you want to give extremely good design apply CSS. (**Not necesasry to learn)

JavaScript is necessary when you want your user to have user-friendly interface.(**Not necesasry to learn).

stick with HTML and CSS for now. Once you know what to do with them, slowly add in Javascript and PHP.

Reason: there are a lot of sites and resources on the net for Javascript and PHP, you can easily download ready-to-go scripts and programs written in Javascript and PHP. So, you don't need PHP or Javascript training to build a website. But to put it all together and/or customize it, you will need a good grasp of HTML, and to make it pretty, you'll need CSS.

i'm thinking lots of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript...although if you want to change it up a little look up some little-known languages that are extremely display-specific. you'll have an advantage over other sites that way.

JSP is build on Java programing language but it is a little but different
ASP.net is build on Basic Programming language

however to obtain the ability to create a web pages you need to learn first HTML (which help you to create the actual web page)

If you want to design more dynamic pages, then javascript would be another language to look at. Sometimes even this isn't enough. Then you may want to start looking at python, but first stick with html and javascript. You can do a lot with those.

What do you mean? My mom says the three languages I should know are English, Spanish, and French. I didn't know you had to know languages to make a web page, oh well.

At the very least you'll want CSS, HTML, JAVA and you should learn a little CGI scripting and PERL scripting as well.
