A testicle retained within the body is normally not fertile - the heat of the body destroys the sperm. However, it is a very dangerous condition, and very often leads to problems like cancer. You *need* to talk to a vet about this.

Undescended testicles have an increased tendency to grow tumors. They may also twist on their stalks and cause life-threatening inflammation. For these reasons, neutering is recommended for dogs with undescended testicles. This procedure is more complicated than a routine neuter; the missing testicle can be under the skin along the path it should have descended to the scrotum or it may be inside the abdomen. Some exploration may be needed to find it thus there is often an incision for each testicle. The retained testicle is sterile and under-developed. If there is one descended testicle, this one will be fertile but since retaining a testicle is a hereditary trait, it is important that the male dog not be bred before he is neutered.

Bad veterinarian!!! You should NEVER cut out one testicle if the other (cryptorchid) testicle cannot be found... I have never seen only one testicle be found, anyway. Did they even look very hard? Yes, your dog may produce some sperm, even though the testicle will not be at the ideal temperature, but more likely, a lot of these cryptorchid dogs become aggressvie from the increased levels of testosterone and those testicles are more likely to become cancerous. Go to another vet and get that testicle OUT!

you need to take him to a different vet and have them take the other out or it can cause cancer(having one trapped inside). but to answer your question i dont think so the body would keep the testicle to warm for any sperm to produce.

you may in no way ever breed a canines with one testicle - the human beings who're telling you it is a fault be responsive to what they're talking approximately. If a canines have been to take area in showing - that's the form you discover out in the experience that your canines is a sturdy occasion of his breed or not - your canines does not be allowed to pass into by way of fact he might decide to be intact. not having a testicle in the canines international is a important fault. It does not make him unlovable, it does not make him valueless, it only ability that he should not be bred. it is genetic. might you opt to bypass on a million testicle to all his male offspring? - then they breed and make greater a million testicled canines? etc. canines with important faults could in no way be bred. it might possibly not appear like each that enormous a deal, yet once you do it and somebody who buys one in each of your canines does it then those canines would be in the gene pool and further and further a million testicled canines will commence showing up. you will contaminate something that folk have been attempting for hundreds of years to make "appropriate" - or as appropriate as randomness could be. No good ***** proprietor might enable your canines to mate with theirs. No good breeder might enable this canines to mate ever. Please have him neutered. Being lovable isn't a reason to reproduce. Being the perfect occasion of the breed is. all and sundry attempting to create "greater" could be targeting making hte maximum suitable that they could. you be responsive to, going into this, that there is something incorrect mutually with your canines - something that should not be handed down. Neuter him and revel in him as a puppy. After he's neutered, no one will ever be responsive to that he basically had one descended testicle.

Please talk to your vet and he will give you an explanation. Or ask adults about the "facts of life" You should also read books and educate yourself on other aspects of owning and naturing dogs.
Perhaps your question should have been "can my dog serve a *****) or "will he still be looking for love". Owning a dog is a great responsibility and you owe it to your dog to investigate their problems, diets and all aspects of dog ownership. It's a BIG SUBJECT.

He cannot have babies as long as his other undiscovered testicle remains in the abdominal cavity. The temperature in the abdominal cavity is too high for sperms to develop to maturity. On the other hand, if the remaining testicle eventually descends into the scrotum where the temperature is lower, it will start producing viable sperms. When this happens, fertility is restored.
