LLB in HK or UK, plz advise!

hi! I am currently on my last year of Alevel in UK. I have been studying in England in a local public high school since 5/6 years ago and I am supposed to get in uni next year but i decided to take a gap year for some reasons.

My final results havent come out yet but I predict that I will get AABB or AAAB include GCE Alevel Chinese, Photography, ICT and Maths. I have got 5 passes in my GCSE but I didnt pass my GCSE English here thus I am going to take IELTS in my gap year, aiming to get 7.0 to 7.5

I am planning to apply non-jupas LLB at HKU and CityU, also apply to the unis here in my gap year.

I have read loads of information about being a lawyer in HK and here's the question; I still cannot decide whether going back to HK to study LLB or staying in England. I know my results are not remarkable enough to secure a place for LLB, but if I got chance to choose from, shall I go back to HK or stay in UK to study LLB? Because if I stay, I am going to study on Common Law; I know HK is also running Common Law, but I also heard that LLB in HK would focus on Basic Law which wont be available in UK LLB, would it be a disadvantage?

I would like to get back to HK for my career even if I gradurate from LLB in UK. But is it better if I study LLB in HK since I hope to work in HK (study locally would be better?). Plus it would be much harder to study in UK as I would probably study alone (without Chinese or Hong Kong people) or need to work with whites (may have language problem makes me hardly understand the concepts of Law as English is my second language, I could seek help in Cantonese if I am in HK).

More than that, would it be an advantage let me get in PCLL more easier if I have been studied LLB in UK? Any advise on unis in UK have a good reputation for LLB? (with consideration of my grades.)

Please help and give me advise base on your own experience!!

in my opinion, i think it's better to study LLB in UK.

well, for practical reason first. City firms still prefer overseas student. so when you graduate, you can get the best job in town! (of course you will need to have a reasonably good results!)

another practical reason is that HKU LLB now requires 4 years of full-time study, whereas i think in UK it still takes only 3 years?

for hong kong LLBs, as you may know, JUPAS students prefer HKU LLB more than City U LLB. Maybe because in general HKU gets students with better results than City U, or that HKU law school has a longer history (for 30 sth years) and most of the successful lawyers in HK comes from HKU (other than those graduated in the UK). well, in that case, you may get better studying enviornment at HKU since HKU LLB gets the creme de la creme amongst hk students.

for recent years, since CUHK is also setting up their own law school, and because of politics within the HKU law faculty, many good teachers have gone for good, or has joined CUHK law school. from my experience, you have to work hard to get good result, teachers there are only helping you, but interpreting cases and understanding the principals, it's all your own effort.

for basic law, i think you dun have to worry about that at all, unless you want to practice Constitutional & Administrative law (whcih is a very narrow area) or you want to join the government as AO (well, it is not a must but the Common Recruitment Exam has a paper on basic law).

indeed, you can get most of your practising knowledge from the PCLL. i understand that it has always been quite competitive for overseas student to get a seat of PCLL in either HKU or CU. Emm... if you can get into LSE or equivalent and get a 2nd upper, i guess there will be no problem. Otherwise, a 2nd upper IS A MUST. rumors said HKU LLBers have priority in joining HKU PCLL. well, i think there is a possibility.
