Hi forum,

Redeem asiamiles to go Hokkaido in end-august to Sept., since it's very full, so my trip now has 9 days in total, taking CX direct flight to/from Hokkaido-HK.

I'm going with two more girl friends and we'll rent car, didn't know Japanese and first time to Hokkaido.

1. Can briefly help us plan Day1-Day9?
2. Is is time consuming if I stay Hokkaido from Day1-6, then go Tokyo on Day6-8 and go back to Hokkaido from day8-9? is it very stupid?
3. Can i still see many flowers during end-August?
4. any hotel suggestion? like free parking during hotel stay?

Thank you.

(1) Just a brief idea.....
Day 1 - Chitose Airport -> Sapporo (Stay: Sapporo)
(Stay: Sapporo)
Day 3 - Otaru小樽 (Stay: Sapporo)
Day 4 - Sapporo -> Hakodate函館 (Stay: Hakodate)
Day 5 - Hakodate / 大沼 (Stay: Hakodate)
Day 6 - Hakodate -> Noboribetsu登別 (Stay: Noboribetsu温泉)
Day 7 - Noboribetsu -> Asahikawa旭川 (Stay: Asahikawa)
Day 8 - Asahikawa -> Biei美瑛 -> Furano富良野 (Stay Furano)
Day 9 - Furano -> Chitose Airport
(2) Its very time consuming and just waste of time.
(3) No more Lavender, but still a lot of flowers like Sunflower and other kinds of flowers at Furano and Biei area.
(4) It is difficult to say as I don't know how's your budget.

Promotion

5) GPS, Baby seat

Toyota@ Rent a car

2. If you really want to visit Tokyo, the fastest way is to fly from Sapporo to Tokyo, and it's not too expensive. If you are lucky, you could get a one-way ticket for about 17,000yen, x 2 for two-way.

4. There are so many nice pension in Hokkaido, they usually provide breakfast and dinner, but most of the nice pension have their website only in Japanese. If you are interested, I could help you to reserve.

I have a website about Japan, it's a new website, but if you are interested in other japanese culture, you may wanna check it out. www.myiroiro.com/jp

1. End of August to September... there will be not much to see in Hokkaido. cos most of the [real] flower farms will be harvested. if you want to see some, well, can still go to 富田農場. but that is not a farm. basically it is just a tourist attraction. There will also be no maple leaves that early. But if this is the first time you go to Hokkaido, there will be a lot of places to visit, for example, Sapporo, New Chitose Shopping Outlet,

For girls I particularly suggest going to Onsen. It will be fun to go bath with your girl friends (provided that you will not be embarassed by going naked). As for the Zoo, i also recommend to go as the animals are SOOOO cute~!

2. Yes it will be quite time consuming to go down to Hokkaido to Tokyo and then return to Hokkaido again. If you take Shinkansen, unless you buy JR pass, otherwise it will be expensive. But if you buy JR pass, it is wasteful not to have used it in other days. Obviously i do not recommend you to drive all the way from Hokkaido to tokyo... (well, i have not tried it, i never thought of that, but i think it will take DAYS!!!)

3. Sorry, no. As said, unless you go to Farm Tomita If you are lucky enough you will find one or two flower farms still harvesting. But most of them will be cut. I have been to Furano and Biei some 4 years ago in mid-August. flower farms were already under harvest.

4. Quite a number of hotel or ryokan will provide free parking service if you stay in their room. for minshuku (民宿) you will need to ask. If you want to make sure, you may inform them that you are driving to the hotel so they may (or may not!) reserve a parking space for you.
