I took a lot of art but still paused to make certain I was not about to lie to you so her it is.....Both...he started with paintings (soup cans were a painting) but then he started silk-screening.....here are some more bits...

He switched to silkscreen prints which he produced serially, seeking not only to make art of mass-produced items but to mass produce the art itself. By minimizing the role of his own hand in the production of his work and declaring that he wanted to be "a machine", Warhol sparked a revolution in art. His work quickly became very controversial and popular.

No that's a valid question. They were paintings made from pictures, then later he made silkscreens (basically, fabric copies) of them. This might help if you are interested in his work...

No sir, you are not stupid. Warhol was an artist in many mediums and the only thing stupid would be be not to ask questions. Always be curious, read and ask, don't ever be afraid of of what others think, it's what you think that counts.

He uses mixed media. Most of the images you've seen are silk-screens of photographs onto canvas with various colours. He also does films.

He was a commercial artist and painter and a film maker. Past tense, he's been dead for 21 years.

He drew and painted his art. He also died in 1987. I saw him on the streets of New York once. Unique looking man. Tall too.

He had to draw it to create it but more often than not by the time you see it it is a picture, so you are not stupid;-) just confused.
