Hope 是平舖直述的動詞。舉例：I hope you will have a happy holiday.

Wish 是假設語式的動詞。舉例：I wish you would have a happy holiday.

這是最大的分別。以例句言，以上之兩例句，是不可改動的了。

如果你說 I wish you a happy birthday, 這也等於說 I wish you would have
a happy birthday. 那假設語式是沒有分別的。

When we say , we hope to do something - it is more chance to become true than wish.

I wish I were you. This is less chance to be true and only imagine.

I hope to pass the examination. You can do so when you work hard.
I wish I were you. You cannot become another person .

例如運氣之類的東西，你就不一定想有就有，所以說：I wish you luck!
但對於一些有可能改變的事，例如：痊癒，就可以用 hope：I hope you will get well soon.
