2x -2 = -2x
-2 = -4x
(-2/-4) = x
1/2 = x
You want to get all the x terms on one side of the "=" sign, and everything else on the other side. Start by multiplying the left half to get 2x -2, and set that equal to the right half to get: 2x - 2 = -2x. Now add 2x to both sides to get:
2x + 2x -2 = -2x + 2x, which becomes: 4x -2 = 0
Now add 2 to both sides to get 4x - 2 + 2 = 0 + 2, which becomes: 4x = 2.
Divide both sides by 4 to get 4x/4 = 2/4, which yields: x = 1/2
Hope that helps!
solve for x
2(x -1) = -2x
distribute the 2 into the perenteces.
2x - 2 = -2x
subtract 2x from both sides
-2 = -4x
divide by -4 on both sides
-2/-4 = x
1/2 = x
hope this helps
2x - 2 = - 2x
4x = 2
x = 1/2
2(x - 1) = -2x
2*x - 2*1 = -2x
2x - 2 = -2x
2x + 2x= 2
4x = 2
x = 2/4
x = 1/2 (0.5)
2(x-1)=-2x
=>2x-2=-2x
=>4x=2
=>x=2/4=1/2(Ans.)
2x-2=-2x
2x+2x-2=0
4x-2+2=0+2
4x=2
2/4=1/2=x
Steps:
1. expand left side
2x - 2 = -2x
2. Put like terms together
-4x = -2
3. Solve
x= 1/2
2(x - 1) = -2x
2x-2=-2x
4x=2
x=.5
