What does square mean in math?

^2 means a number to the power of 2

such as

8^2. This means the same thing as 8 squared or 8*8=64.
You could also raise it to the power of any number you want

such as

8^3 which means 8 to the power of three

It Stand For The Power Of Two, Square (2) In Mathematics. It Can Be Cube (3) & etc.

a² = a x a
7² = 7 x 7 = 49
10² = 10 x 10 = 100
2² = 2 x 2 = 4
(-4)² = (-4) x (-4) = 16

8² = 8 x 8 = 64
