= (5x² + 10x - 400)/(x² - 64)
= (5[x² + 2x - 80])/([x + 8][x - 8])
= (5[{x + 8}{x - 10}])/([x + 8][x - 8])
= (5[x + 10])/(x - 8)

Answer: 5([x + 10]/[x - 8])
2008-06-05 11:30 pm
///////
5(x-8)(x+10)/(x-8)(x+8)=5(x+10)/(x+8)
2008-06-05 11:36 pm
5 (x² + 2x - 80)
-------------------
(x - 8)(x + 8)

5 (x + 10) (x - 8)
--------------------
(x - 8) (x + 8)

5 (x + 10)
-------------
(x + 8)

What is your question? You didn't include an equals sign. Are you asking what number the expression evaluates to? If x = 0 , then the expression is equal to 6.25, or maybe infinity ... see below.

And what, exactly, is the expression you wrote?
Is it 5x^2 + 10x - 400 / (x^2-64) ?

Or is it 5x^2 +10x - (400 / x^2) - 64?

Or is it something else?

(5x^2 + 10x - 400)/(x^2 - 64)
= 5(x^2 + 2x - 80)/(x + 8)(x - 8)
= 5(x + 10)(x - 8)/(x + 8)(x - 8)
= 5(x + 10)/(x + 8)
