what is indirect consequences? and how does it related to culture?

Indirect consequences are characterized by being less easily seen and felt, but all those impacted know them.
For instance, slavery, a touchy subject still, has not DIRECTLY impacted any of the younger generations today. The effects however, are felt in our culture i believe to this day. No one likes to admit being biased but, i believe, we all are subconsciously.

I hope i haven't ruffled any feathers with this one; it was just the best example i could come up with. No offense intended.
