The principal functional group is the -OH group (-ol), which is attached to the parent chain. The saturated parent chain (ethan-) contains two C atoms, C1 is at the centre (the number 1 is omitted because there are only two C atoms in the parent chain) and C2 is in the terminal position. One cyclopentyl- group (starting with letter c) and one methyl- group (start with letter m) are attached to the C1 atom.
