Lucy Scott lived near the park. Saturday was her birthday. She was 18. Her aunt gave her two cinema tickets. Lucy put them in her purse. Them she went to the park with her dog, Sam. Saw a cat and chased it. Lucy chased Sam and she dropped her purse beside the fountain.
On Saturday at two o’clock Lucy went to see Mrs. Mott. “I’m very unhappy!” said Lucy. “I’ve lost my purse!” She told Mrs. Mott her story. “Am I going to find my money and my cinema tickets, Mrs. Mott?”
Mrs. Mott looked at Lucy’s left hand. “Yes, you are!” she said. “And you’re going to meet an old friend, too.”
On Monday Danny had lunch with Ben. “I went to see Mrs. Mott,” said Danny. “She said: You’re going to find some money, and you’re going to meet an old friend. She was right! I gave it to a policeman. But I didn’t meet an old friend!”
A young girl listened to Danny. “I’m going to get that money, “she thought.
The girl went to the police station. “I’ve lost a red purse,” she said to a policeman.
“What was in the purse?” asked the policeman.
But the girl did not know.
Then Lucy came in. “I’ve lost a red purse,” she said. “There were two cinema tickets and some money in it.” The policeman gave Lucy her purse. He gave her Danny’s address at the bank, too.
On Monday afternoon Lucy went to the bank. “Danny?” Lucy said. “Danny Lee! We went to school together!”
“Lucy!” Danny said. “You’re Lucy Scott.”
“Danny, you found my purse. The policeman gave me your name and address,” said Lucy. “It’s good to see you again. When do you stop work?”
“Five o’clock,” said Danny. “What time is it now? I’ve lost my watch.”
“It’s five to five. Let’s have tea,” said Lucy.
