英文tense疑問

Note for comparative adjective:
Comparative: We use better for 2 persons, when we say “John is better than Tommy”, we already know who is better because there is only 2 people for comparison.
Superlative : We use best for more than 2 persons, that is, who is the best among all people we are talking about. From the word “superlative” you can understand we are trying to find out the super one.
Your sentences:
1) Lily is the CLEVERER of the twins 而 Lily is the CLEVEREST of the twins 不對呢?
– Here you have only 2 people, so we just use comparative, that is, cleverer, we can already know who is the cleverer one between the two..


2) Of the three boys, Jason is the NAUGHTIEST.為什麼不是用 NAUGHTIER呢?
- Here we have more than 2 persons so we need to use “superlative” to find out the naughtiest among these people.

Lily is the CLEVERER of the twins 而不是the CLEVEREST , 因為twins 一般是2人(孿生), 所以Lily是較另一個聰明, 二者比較, 故用 the CLEVERER
而Of the three boys, Jason is the NAUGHTIEST, 是指3人中 Jason 是最頑皮故用 the NAUGHTIEST, 並無二者比較之意.
