1. Microwaves used in satellite telecommunication are of range between 3 GHz to 300 GHz. Such freuqncies can penetrate through the ionosphere (which is a layer of ionized air at the upper atmosphere at an altitude of about 250-300 km ) without being reflected back to earth.
