1. Let x be the number
(x 13) = 3 (x-11)

x 13 = 3x - 33

x - 3x = -13 - 33

-2x = - 46

x = 23

2. Let x be the middle number

19
(x -1) = ( x 1 ) 一
     20

x - 1 = ( x 1 ) 0.95

x - 1 = 0.95x 0.95

x - 0.95x = 1 0.95

0.05x = 1.95

x = 39

So, the middle number is 39 .

2. Let x be the middle number

19
(x -1) = ( x +1 ) 一
     20

x - 1 = ( x +1 ) 0.95

x - 1 = 0.95x + 0.95

x - 0.95x = 1 + 0.95

0.05x = 1.95

x = 39
