Chinese New Year is definitely the most welcomed festival of Hong Kong people.
At the end of each year, ever family across the city would be busy preparing all sorts of foods. During the festival ,it is custom to visit relatives and after them blessings through Chinese delicacies that are traditionally served during this holiday the children is receive some candy, some snack for them.
About 5 days before the New Year ,all sorts of festive markets will be popping up in Hong Kong vendors sell flowers and decorations bearing good fortune with them. Everything is new and fresh, to signify a better and brighter year.
During the holiday, temples would be packed full of people wishing for luck ,Some temples would close their gates before mid-night on the eve; then, when the clock strikes twelve, people would flock in, fighting to be the first one to put the frankincense into the altar.
I remember, one special year, my relative got married. We had fun, apart from getting a lot of red packets and stuffing our stomachs to the brim with food ,we are happy to welcome a new member to our big family.
The best thing about Chinese New Year is that we get to unite as a family to dine together, to share with each other past experiences of course , we must also offer blessings to our relatives. The youngsters get to receive more red packets. Lastly, seeing my family shopping happily and puts a smile on my face too. Chinese New Year brings us so much fun!
