Those sticky substances in your stool are probably mucus. Mucus in your stool is generally not an indication of any problem. It is normal to have some type of mucus in your stool. Your body produces it to protect and lubricate your intestine. Without the mucus, you can get constipation and are at a much higher risk of having tears in your intestine. Too much mucus might be a sign of diarrhea.
If you noticed a change in your bowel movement or your bowel habit lately (for at least a week). You should go see a doctor. Bowel movement or habit changes may be an indication of other health problems.
